The 3 kW heating element Elektromet EJK mini 3000 is an electric heating cartridge for direct water heating in suitable open and closed metal containers. The design is particularly intended for enamelled domestic hot water heaters and hot water storage tanks where an electrically insulated heating element is advisable.
With its power class, the screw-in heating element is suitable for appropriately sized storage tanks with a suitable 1 1/2 inch socket, sufficient minimum volume and correct installation position. The heating element can be used for electric reheating or for supporting temperature control of domestic hot water.
Technology & Equipment
The Elektromet EJK mini series operates with a tubular heating element that is electrically insulated inside the plastic or insulating housing. As a result, there is no direct metallic connection between the heating element and the tank wall, which is particularly relevant for enamelled storage tanks with a corrosion protection concept.
The outer housing contains the 230 V single-phase power supply, a heat controller with stepless temperature adjustment and a non-self-resetting safety temperature limiter. The rotary knob and red indicator light are arranged directly in the housing cover, so that operation and operating status remain easy to follow.
Everyday Benefits
The water temperature is set via the rotary knob on the housing. Once the selected temperature is reached, the heat controller automatically switches off the heating element and switches it back on when the temperature falls below the setpoint.
The red indicator light shows that heating is active. In addition, the heat controller has a frost protection function, which is used via the 0 position with snowflake symbol and protects the water temperature in the tank against excessive cooling.
System Integration & Compatibility
The heating rod is intended for suitable metal containers, in particular for enamelled storage tanks for hot water preparation. The container requires a suitable 1 1/2 inch connection socket and must be designed for operation with an electric heating cartridge.
Installation is carried out horizontally or almost horizontally. The heating element and temperature sensor tube must be completely surrounded by water during operation. The EJK heating cartridge is not intended for water storage tanks made of stainless steel or acid-resistant steel.

Installation
Before installation, the tank, threaded sleeve, sealing surface, installation space, and connection conditions must be checked. The heating cartridge may only be installed horizontally or nearly horizontally so that the heating element and temperature sensor tube are fully submerged in water during operation.
The tank threaded sleeve should not be longer than approx. 70 mm. Depending on the sealing surface, a flat gasket 55 x 47.5 x 2 mm or an O-ring 46 x 3.5 mm is provided for sealing. The power plug may only be inserted after the tank is completely filled with water.
Notes
Dry running must be avoided, as this can damage the heating element. With hard water, the heating element should be regularly checked for limescale deposits and professionally cleaned, as scale can impair heat transfer and increase electricity consumption.
The power plug must remain accessible after installation. For pressure tanks, a suitable safety valve must be considered. The housing of the heating cartridge must not be covered or thermally insulated so that the temperature controller and safety temperature limiter can operate correctly.
