The GEMA hygienic storage tank FKS 500 is a standing fresh water combination storage tank with a net capacity of 470 l, a stainless steel corrugated pipe for hygienic drinking water heating, and a lower heat exchanger. It is suitable for heating systems in which buffer storage and domestic hot water preparation are to be combined in one storage system.
The FKS 500 model size is interesting for technical system concepts in which, in addition to heat storage, drinking water heating in the flow-through principle via a stainless steel corrugated pipe is also required. Depending on the selected variant, the insulation is designed as 100 mm EPS insulation, 130 mm EPS insulation, or 150 mm EPS vacuum insulation.
Technology & Equipment
The storage tank combines a heating buffer area with an internal stainless steel corrugated pipe for drinking water heating. In addition, a lower heat exchanger is integrated, which can be used for integrating additional heat generators or system components.
For hydraulic integration, 8 charging and discharging connections with 1 1/2" female thread, 4 sensor and controller connections with 1/2" female thread, a vent with 1 1/4" female thread, as well as connections for the stainless steel corrugated pipe and heating cartridges are available. Heating cartridges may only be used in the designated sockets.

The combination of buffer storage tank and stainless steel corrugated pipe supports a space-saving system solution for heating and drinking water heating. The drinking water is not permanently stored in the tank, but is heated via the stainless steel corrugated pipe.
Thanks to the available insulation variants, the storage tank can be selected to match the desired insulation thickness and efficiency class. The standing design with clearly defined connection positions facilitates integration into technical boiler rooms and renovation projects.
System Integration & Compatibility
The FKS 500 is intended for heating water on the storage tank side and for domestic hot water heating via the stainless steel corrugated pipe. The lower heat exchanger expands the integration options within the system hydraulics.
The technical limit values of a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar at the storage tank and a maximum operating temperature of 95 °C must be observed during planning, installation, and operation. Safety valves, expansion vessels, venting, and fittings must be designed to suit the respective system.

Installation
Installation, connection, and commissioning may only be carried out by qualified personnel. The storage tank must be set up on a load-bearing, level surface in a stable and plumb position.
The insulation should only be installed after the tank has been set up and the connection positions have been checked. When planning, take into account the tilting dimension without insulation of 1,620 mm as well as sufficient clearances for connections, sensors, valves, maintenance, and insulation.
Notes
The model designation FKS 500 describes the size class of the storage tank. The technical net volume without heat exchanger is 470 l.
Unused connections must be professionally sealed. For drinking water connections, the applicable hygiene and installation regulations must be observed.
